The Kings Heath Business Improvement District (Kings Heath BID) is a geographical area along Kings Heath High Street and the shops on the side roads off it.
A BID is where a group of businesses in a geographically defined area agree to an additional levy on their business rates, which they then use to improvement the shopping environment, with the intention of ultimately increasing their sales.
The Kings Heath BID is made up of over 315 local businesses and organisations within the defined geographical area who have agreed to each pay a BID levy equivalent to 1.5% of their rateable value. This levy raises approximately £120k per year which is pumped back into improving Kings Heath shopping centre.
Tiger Bam Comms were originally appointed to implement a 6 month social media and PR campaign on behalf of the Kings Heath BID in 2013 – the success of the campaign saw Tiger Bam unanimously appointed by the BID board to handle all marketing, PR, digital, and branding on behalf of the BID, a position that we have held for 4 years.
With over 300 successful businesses operating in the BID area, we are always looking for the next story to tell in Kings Heath – whether it is sharing the latest success story, celebrating an anniversary or new opening, pushing an upcoming event or spreading the word about some community good news. We pitch and place stories in national and regional publications in print and digital, and on TV and radio on behalf of the Enjoy Kings Heath BID.
Kings Heath has been featured in national publications such as: “Let’s all move to Kings Heath” via The Guardian and various other positive news stories featured in The Times, Birmingham Mail, The Birmingham Post, The Express and Star, BBC WM, BBC Midlands Today, ITV Central News, Made in Birmingham and more.
The clients objective was to develop an online voice and personality, promote BID members activity, and increase engagement with the online audiences. We maintain and develop Kings Heath BID’s consumer brand, ‘Enjoy Kings Heath’, creating daily engaging and topical content on behalf of the BID team.
Since taking over the social media account we have grown the following extensively online: from 80 ‘followers’ (Twitter) and 300 hundred ‘likes’ (Facebook) to having over 4000 active users and followers on both platforms.
We played a pivotal role in upgrading the consumer facing website, and project managed the new web build, developing and launching a web content strategy to promote business via the Enjoy Kings Heath website.
Through the Enjoy Kings Heath social media accounts and website, we share BID member businesses incentives, events, products and promotions.
We also have created an engaged community by sharing relevant topical, national and community news. This content has resulted in a multitude of direct bookings and sales for BID businesses.
